What type of inflammation are we talking about?
Inflammation is the name given to the body’s natural response to an attack, infection, injury, or irritation. Its function is to protect and repair damaged tissues.
Inflammation is usually a short-term reaction, although sometimes it can become chronic.
In this article, I will focus on a very specific type of chronic inflammation: the one that occurs in people with rheumatoid arthritis.
But I also address chronic inflammation more generally, because I know many Fonto Media readers are interested in it!
Common causes of inflammation
These are the most common causes of inflammation.
Acute (with a maximum duration of 3 months):
Bacterial, viral, or fungal infections. For example, sinusitis.
Injuries: cuts, sprains, surgery, etc. Such as inflammation after knee replacement.
Allergic reactions.
