Visible veins: a simple physical peculiarity or a sign that needs to be interpreted?

Physical activity: During exercise, blood circulation increases, causing a temporary dilation of blood vessels.
Heat: Under the effect of high temperatures, veins dilate to help regulate body temperature, making them more visible.
In these cases, don’t worry: your veins may simply reflect good blood circulation or be a characteristic of your skin.

Signs that should alert you

Be alert if, in addition to the discomfort, you observe the following symptoms: localized or throbbing pain,
a feeling of heaviness in the legs,
swelling, unusual warmth or tingling, and
changes in skin color around the vein
may indicate the presence of varicose veins (dilated blood vessels with impaired function) or, less frequently, phlebitis (inflammation caused by a blood clot). In these cases, it is recommended to consult a phlebologist, a specialist in venous disorders.

Simple habits to care for your circulation.
Good news: a few daily actions can soothe your legs and improve your circulation. Here are my favorite recommendations:

Move regularly: avoid prolonged static postures. Walk, rotate your ankles, or get up at least every hour.
Elevate your legs: at the end of the day, lie down with your legs supported on a cushion for about fifteen minutes.
