Going to the bathroom together has become “normal” in some relationships, but doing your business while your partner is present can be not only uncomfortable but also unhygienic. Fecal particles can become airborne (this is called “fecal aerosol”) and contaminate nearby surfaces.
Popping each other’s pimples or blackheads
While many find it satisfying, popping your partner’s pimples with your fingers can cause infections, especially if done without clean hands or hygienic conditions. It can also leave permanent marks on the skin.
Sharing wet towels
Drying yourself with the same towel, especially if it’s damp, promotes the growth of bacteria and fungi. Fungal skin infections, such as athlete’s foot or ringworm, can be easily transmitted through this seemingly harmless habit.
- Tasting each other’s food with the same cutlery
It’s romantic to give your partner a spoonful of your food, but using the same utensils without washing them first can exchange oral bacteria or viruses like the common cold or Epstein-Barr virus. In situations of weakened immunity, this could result in an unnecessary infection.
