This morning, I went out into the garden—just to water the flowers and check if the cats had done their business yet, as they often do. But as soon as I opened the gate, a horrible smell hit me. It was so strong that my chest tightened and I tasted a metallic odor in my mouth.

These tentacles are covered in sticky mucus and give off a horrible carrion smell to attract flies and spread their spores.

People who see it for the first time often think they’ve stumbled upon something extraterrestrial. Some even call the police or emergency services.

I was also shocked when I realized that this “creature” in my garden was just a fungus – living, strange and perhaps one of the most sinister life forms created by nature.

Now I walk in this place every day. I no longer water the flowers.

Let it grow – the “devil’s gift” must not be disturbed.
