Cooking Directions
Begin by warming the milk slightly until it is lukewarm, not hot. Stir in 1 tablespoon of sugar and sprinkle the dry yeast on top. Allow the yeast mixture to sit for about 10 minutes until foamy. This ensures your dough will rise properly.
In a large mixing bowl, whisk the eggs together with the remaining sugar, vanilla sugar, and a pinch of salt until light and fluffy.
Add the softened butter into the egg mixture, whisking until smooth and creamy.
Pour in the activated yeast mixture and stir until combined.
Gradually add flour into the bowl, stirring gently until the dough comes together. It should be soft, slightly sticky but manageable.
Fold in the chopped apple pieces, making sure they’re evenly distributed throughout the dough.
Lightly flour a surface and roll out the dough to a medium thickness. Sprinkle a little sugar over the surface for extra caramelization.
Cut the dough into cookie-sized pieces, arranging them on a parchment-lined baking tray.
Let the shaped cookies rest for about 15–20 minutes at room temperature to allow the dough to rise slightly.
Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (356°F) for 15–18 minutes until golden brown.
Remove from the oven and allow to cool on a wire rack. Enjoy warm or at room temperature.
