There are many ways to treat calcified tonsils at home. These are only recommended if they aren’t causing you discomfort, are not severely infected, and aren’t causing other health problems. If you’d prefer to try home remedies before seeing a doctor, here are some options that might help:

  1. Gargling with salt water  : Mix one teaspoon of salt in warm water and gargle to reduce inflammation and eliminate tonsil stones.
  2. Apple cider vinegar  : Dilute apple cider vinegar with water and gargle to balance pH levels in the mouth and prevent bacterial growth.
  3. Stay hydrated  : Drinking plenty of water can help keep your mouth hydrated and minimize the formation of tonsil stones.
  4. Good oral hygiene  : Regularly brushing your teeth and tongue, and using mouthwash can help prevent the buildup of bacteria in the mouth.

It’s important to keep in mind that home remedies only provide temporary relief and may not eliminate the problem completely. If symptoms persist or worsen, it’s essential to consult a doctor.

Prevention of tonsil stones

While it may not be possible to completely prevent the formation of tonsil stones, these preventative measures can help minimize their occurrence:

  1. Maintain good oral hygiene  : Brushing your teeth, flossing, and using mouthwash regularly can help control bacteria in your mouth.
  2. Stay hydrated  : Drinking water throughout the day can help prevent dry mouth, which can contribute to the formation of tonsil stones.
  3. Avoid tobacco and alcohol  : Smoking and excessive alcohol consumption can irritate the tonsils and contribute to the development of tonsil stones.
  4. Visit your dentist regularly  : Routine dental checkups can help detect any early signs of tonsil stone formation and provide appropriate guidance.

Although tonsillitis with stones can be bothersome, it is generally harmless. If you experience symptoms or persistent bad breath, it is recommended that you consult a doctor for an accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment. Remember to maintain good oral hygiene and take preventive measures to minimize the recurrence of tonsillitis with stones.
