A palliative care nurse reveals a movement people often make when they are near death

 

“They’re here.”
“I’m going home.”
“I’m seeing Mom.”

These testimonies, although subjective, give this gesture an   almost mystical meaning.

  1. A response from the brain… or a final impulse from the heart?

From a medical perspective, some suggest that these movements may be caused by   involuntary neurological reactions  . A drop in oxygen, chemical changes in the brain, or hallucinations could be the cause.

But what surprises the doctors is the   gentleness of the gesture   : it’s neither convulsions nor spasms. The movement is slow, fluid, almost deliberate. As if the body were accompanying the soul on its flight.
