3 types of clothing you should never wear to a funeral

  1. Eccentric prints: when originality has no place

We love leopard print or tropical shirts… but not in this context.  Bold prints, visible logos, whimsical illustrations, or bold graphic messages have their place on vacation or at a party, but certainly not at a funeral.

If you like patterns, opt for something very discreet:  thin stripes, a small check in muted colors, or a very subtle floral pattern on a dark background are all acceptable . The idea is to express modesty, not your personality or your mood of the day.

One last piece of advice? When doubt creeps in, ask yourself:  “Does my outfit show my support and compassion?”  If the answer is yes, you’re on the right track.

Because in these suspended moments, the best way to pay tribute to someone is often to step back a little.
